WOO, BACK MOSTLY!!!I found out that it was my laptop mouse that was making the laptop run glitchy, so I tried my old mouse in, and it worked! So now that I have a smooth running computer, I can be back on here for at least the community part, but I just can't really do art until there is a new/fixed desktop because I have no good editing program on this laptop, and there is not enough space to download my project files on to here.So Sunday, I will be able to start up my "Emoticon of the Week" series again, and the 26th, I'll start up my "Fella Features You!" series. I missed my turn for deviant365 last, but some time in September it will be my turn again to do my contest/project.So, I noticed a lot of cool stuff has happened over the summer! Like Endorell-Taelos and Astralseed getting deviousness, Waluigi-Prower becoming the new emoticon CV, and the July 2014 Seniority (which included Eitvys200, rainylake TheGalleryOfEve, and simplys
Computer Problems SuckSo the computer ended up completely dying, and the laptop is being dumb, so I can't be doing my thing on here for at least a few weeks. I unfortunately can not write up any articles over my phone ,, , but I can over my laptop, it will just take a lot longer.>.> I can't promise being really active as I'd like to be on here until I get a new desktop.i know I've been saying that if be back full time and everything like twice now, but it's just been one thing after another this summer so far keeping me off here.I hope to see you guys more soon! Again, the computer gets replaced I will be able to be on here as much as I was able to before. Love you all! I hope you are having a great summer/winter!
Will be out for a little time longerHey!So I found out that I have another trip planned out this week, busy summer haha, so I will not be back full for like another week.>.>In other news though, I will not be making any art for some time because my desktop's hard drive went out, and my laptop mouse is really dumb, so making anything with it would be a real pain. I will be active otherwise tough when I get back.See you guys!

Emoticon Tournament 2014 PreparationsHey!So this summer, I am planning on hosting the 2014 Emoticon Tournament! It will be run much like last year, with maybe a few variations in the rules where needed based on last year. One of the major rule changes though this year, is that instead of there being initially one week to create your entry, there will be two weeks. Each round could last up to three weeks, if there is popular demand for a one week extension.I will start choosing judges, and maybe an assistant or two pretty soon, but I will not really start going big on planning until I get back full swing mid June. There will be judging applications as there were last year, so look out for those. So until then, I will start opening up donations for the event. So if you have some spare points, and want to help give this a head start, you can donate to my other account IceXDragon-Alt!Thanks everyone! I hope this year it will be very epic and fun!:
Weekly Hunt #124Every Friday, there will be a 'Hunt' for either the Most or the Least of something or other. It's a weekly (hopefully) fun activity, open to all, that will get you scouring deviantART for the best possible piece that fits the 'Hunt'.The person who suggests the best piece will get four of their art pieces featured on our page and, in return, the piece itself will also be featured on dAseniors' front page! Please suggest up to 2 pieces to this folder, not on this journal!(It will be automatically approved, so make sure you submit wisely. )Last time, we had the most...Amazing Lightning!Suggested by SilverInkblot Another Awesome Suggestion:
I won't be around much......for the next month or so.I haven't been spending many afternoons here at home as of late, so I haven't had much dA time as I have school stuffs in the morning. And right after school ends, I'll be helping out with a day camp for 2 weeks, and immanently after attend a week long summer camp in Ohio!So due to this, especially starting June 3rd, my activity here will be minimal. Never fear though, I should be back normally around the 21st, when I can be on here in the morning!I will though keep up with my articles, as I can just write schedule those on the weekend and they will post.Everyone, have an awesome week!

Something about talentI've always disliked the term "talented".It implies that things come to you naturally and without any effort, while in reality the people that are considered extremely talented rarely get to the top without any practice. And the 'rarely' is an understatement. I've never seen anyone reach the top without effort. Not ever. I dislike how 'not having talent' is often used as an excuse for not being good at something, while in reality the only real reason that keeps people from accomplishing things is not working hard enough for it. And sure, not working hard enough can have its reasons. Very valid reasons like having different priority's in life, not having enough time next to your school, job or family life, or even battling an illness. It doesn't change the fact that you're capable of doing it. I always tend to compare art (or any craft in that matter) with running a marathon. Anyone that's not severely handicapped could run a marathon, but it takes a lot of dedication

Using HTML on deviantARTHello!Hello and welcome to my little html tutorial. I've been working with html codes for a couple of years and I'm going to teach you what I know about using some basic html on deviantART. This won't make you a html expert or something and I'm not an expert myself but it will give just enough knowledge to make your journals, comments, news articles and other neat and lovely looking. deviantART actually has FAQs about html but I still wanted to do this because they look a bit unorganized, in my opinion. Also, why would you want to look for those FAQs when you can just open this news article where you have everything in one place? You may already know some of these, but I hope you'll find at least something helpful in this news article. Some basic htmlBold text: <b>insert text here</b> Result: Example textThis html code will work in: journal entries, group blogs, comments, artist's commen

How to get noticed on deviantART!:faq56:I've had many people ask me this question so I'm going to elaborate the best I can. As the FAQ above states, to get far on deviantART you HAVE to give feedback to get it. It's almost virtually impossible for you to get noticed without doing any of that. I learned that after a year of being here. Browse ArtThis is something that you will have to do in your dA lifetime in order to find your inspirations and be able to learn new techniques. When on the front page of deviantART it's probably the most diverse amount of artwork you'll see! Ranging from pixels to sculptures, tattoos to anime to poems, there has to be at least one that can catch your eye! There are millions of deviants here and even more submissions! Try searching for artworks that please you. You can even have a randomized search by using stuff like the random d
Free (and cheap) Art ProgramsUpdate: 5/2/2014 - Added Mischief. Dogwaffle, Krita, and SmoothDraw coming soon. Any other suggested programs are on my list to test, thank you for your thoughts.Photoshop is a great program, but despite it's many features it's a bit pricy at $999. I created this list for people with smaller wallets and certain art needs. The programs are listed according to what type of art they are best suited for.Don't know what program will be best for you? Most of the paid programs have trial versions available, download them and see what you like best.Programs:DRAWING/SKETCHING/PAINTINGopenCanvas | ScreenshotPlatform: WindowsPrice: 59 USDScreenshot:Pros: ability to customize brushes, ruler tools, user-friendly interface, some built-in screen tones. 7 Tips To Instantly Become A Better ArtistPractice, practice, practice. Gah.Attend life drawing classes over the summer. Blegh.Take a sketchbook with you everywhere you go, and fill up ten of those bad boys at the coffee shop. Pfft.Let's be honest here. We all want to become better artists, like, right frickin' now. We don't even want to have to suffer through hour-long tutorials of some pompous snooty hack bloviating over the intricate methods of drawing eyes on YouTube. We want progress, we want improvement, and we want it on our desk in ten minutes ago!Fine, fine, I hear ya'. While these aren't going to make an instant Leonardo da Vinci out of you, these might get you up to...ehh...Basquiat caliber. Sure, I've made tutorials, but those are more about setting up Photoshop for the sake of coloring an image, and not so much building yourself artistically. Those are more technical lessons. Artistically
